How to drive an electric car

Hello, guys as we know electric cars are occupying the car market by the days. many new companies and the old brand also taking interest in the manufacturing of electric cars with various models. with that by the day's buying ratio of these cars also increasing by customers. before buying those electric cars so many peoples or buyers have a common question which is how to drive an electric car, what difference between electric cars and petrol-diesel cars, is their clutch pedal, gear lever, accelerator pedal, and handbrake lever in electric cars. read continue to get answers to your questions.

How to drive an electric car -

If you had to drive an engine car then you have an experience that how it works. There are many driving rules, which you should know before driving any car. but those things we will discuss later. first, we will discuss what is the difference between an engine car and an electric car when you drive.

Difference between an electric car and engine car when you drive -

When you seat on the driver side you will see many changes in the electric car compared to the engine cars. I would say clearly there is no clutch pedal and gear shift knob in an electric car. because of the absence of an engine, there is no need for a clutch pedal and gear lever, so that makes it easier to drive an electric car.

So there is only the brake pedal and accelerator pedal available to control the electric cars. there is an absence of gear lever and clutch pedal as compare to engine car.

There is a regenerative braking system available that helps to recharge the battery when you are not accelerating the car. and automatic transmission which controls the drive modes. In the drive mode, there is one dial which you can rotate to change your drive mode. drive modes available with sport mode, reverse mode, etc. which controls by the moters. in an electric car not using the combustion engine, the car running on an electric engine, or electric motor.

There is also have a mechanism of parking break-in electric cars but there is different system use as a handbrake. in combustion engine cars we use a handbrake but in the electric car, we used electronic handbrake. work of both handbrakes is the same but the electric handbrake is controlled by the press or pulls button and the whole system control by electrically that why we also called them electronic parking brakes.

There is also an absence of an exhaust pipe at the rear side of a car and there is no voice or any vibration when you start the car. and also fuel tank is replaced by the battery. In most cases, the battery is located at the bottom of the car.

How to drive an electric car in steps -

The first thing is to make sure that you were comfortable in a car. once you seat on the driver side you need to adjust the driver seat as per your height and length of your legs, make sure that you can press the brake pedal and accelerator pedal comfortably. next, adjust the mirror of both sides including the inside unit. and then wear a seat belt for your safety.

Basically, there are two pedals in a car which are the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal which helps you to control the car speed. next front of you there a driving wheel which helps you to control the direction where you drive.

Then, start the car with a press button. there is no key so you need to start the car with a button, many cars can start with a remote. after start the car there is no voice like combustion engine cars make. you can see on the dashboard where the status of the car such as the speed of a car, charging level, mileage, etc.

Remove the electric handbrake (parking brake) with help of press or pull the button. because if you didn't remove hand break then the car will not move.

Then press the accelerator to accelerate the car. before pressing the accelerator check the drive mode because those modes decide where will your car run forward or reverse. how to use different modes is given below.

Then control the car with a steering wheel, breaks, and accelerator. steering wheel direct you to the direction or turn, brakes will help you to the control speed of the car in traffic, and the accelerator will accelerate the car on the road.

And do not forget to use the handbrake before parked the car.

Different switch Modes of an electric car -

There are two drive modes available in electric cars which Drive mode and Sport mode. but there are also transmission switch for neutral and reverse.

Neutral switch -

The neutral switch is used when the car is in a rest position. when the car is not moving you need to use a neutral switch. A neutral switch should be used when you start the car and off the car. use the neutral switch when there is no activity. if you are in a rest position and if you press the accelerator accidentally that time neutral switch will help you to avoid any incidence.

Reverse switch -

The reverse switch operates the position of the electric car in the reverse direction. when do you want to park the car or turn the car on the corner that time you will need to use the reverse switch. it can happen when the polarity of the motor makes spin backward.

Drive Mode -

Drive mode is used when your speed is between 0-60 kmph. properly when you start the car and accelerate it that time commonly car speed is very low so we use drive mode. drive mode also consumes less power than sport mode. mileage of a car is good when you used the drive mode. in traffic, the drive mode is the best option.

Sport Mode -

The sport mode is used when the speed of the car is above 60 Kmph. properly sport mode is used when you overtaking the vehicles or when you want a thrill drive experience. the consumption of power in sport mode is more that drive mode. because of sport mode mileage is reduced comparing to drive mode. The sport mode is mostly used for trilling performance. in a sport mode, the power of the car is doubled to the drive mode that's why it consumes much power.

Different components of electric cars  -

There are a few components that are different from the compare to the engine car.

Battery -

The power need to drive the car comes from the battery of the car. the car battery is rechargeable and every electric component is operated by the power of the battery. The car battery is charged by the AC charger or DC fast charger. the battery can be charged at home with an AC charger and power stations use a DC charger. the battery comes with a guarantee of 8 years or 1,60,000 Km ( any one factor can considerable).

There few types of battery used -
  • Lithium-ion Batteries - Mostly Use
  • Lead-acid Batteries
  • Nickel metal hydride Batteries

Motor controller -

The motor controller of electric cars controls all motors of the car. It operates the complete operation and it provides the distribution of its power to every wheel. it works as the floodgate between the battery and the motors. the motor controller monitors and regulate the all key performance component such as the vehicle operator, motor, battery, and accelerate padel. there is also a more refined controller that operates all small devices and increase the efficiency of a car.

Electric Motor or Electric Engine -

The electric engine is also called as the electric motor. in the combustion engine, lots of moving parts and mechanism works but in the electric engine or motor has only one moving part in a car. electric engine power depends on the voltage system of your car. there are two types of a motor by using current, which AC or DC current motors.  AC's current motor is lighter and less expensive compare to DC current motors. that's why AC motors are more sophisticated than DC motors. They also have more efficiency than the combustion engine because less moving part makes less wear and tear.

Regenerative brake -

The regenerative braking system helps to charge the battery when the electric motor generates forward motion and it works when you apply the breaks or not using the accelerator. the regenerative brake can recover up to 15% of used energy to accelerating the car. it can not charge the full battery but it helps to increase efficiency and mileage of a car.

Drive System -

The Drive system helps to transfer the mechanical energy to the traction wheels and helps to generate motion. the car can be an all drive system or two-drive system. the electric car didn't need conventional transmission but that replace by the drive system in electric cars. in a drive system, there are few modes such as drive mode, sport, mode, neutral mode, and a reverse mode, etc. electric car can reduce the consumption of power when a car in ideal passion in traffic.
